The audit
Is Repodo a real audit firm?
Yes. Repodo Statsautoriseret Revisionsanpartsselskab is approved and registered by the Danish Business Authority and performs statutory audits under the Danish Auditors Act. We follow the same rules, standards and public quality inspection as every other Danish audit firm.
Who signs our audit opinion?
A named, state-authorised auditor at Repodo. You know who it is from day one, and they're personally responsible for your opinion. AI never signs anything.
Who is responsible if AI makes an error?
We are, together with the responsible auditor. AI can carry out and prepare work, but the final assessment and signature always rest with a state-authorised auditor. The technology changes the way the work is carried out, not who is responsible.
Will banks, investors and the authorities accept it?
Yes. You get a statutory audit opinion, the same kind your current auditor issues, and it's accepted wherever your current opinion is.
What does the AI do, and what doesn't it do?
The AI collects data from your accounting system, reconciles the ledger, tests every transaction, prepares documentation and flags anything unusual. It doesn't make judgements or reach conclusions. Your auditor assesses the risks, reviews every flagged item, talks to you when it matters and signs.
What does "AI-native" mean?
Most audit firms add software to a way of working designed for people and spreadsheets. We designed how we audit around AI from the start, so the machine handles the volume and our auditors spend their time on judgement.
Isn't "AI-native" just a buzzword?
No. For us, it means that AI is built into the technology, processes and client experience from the beginning. It is not an add-on to a traditional audit model.
Do you really test every transaction?
Yes. Testing the full ledger is our default, and your workfile states the coverage in plain numbers. It supports the audit; it doesn't replace professional judgement.
How do you make sure the AI complies with the Auditors Act and all other requirements?
The regulatory responsibility rests with us as the audit firm and with the responsible auditor. The technology is used within controlled audit processes, with professional review and human approval. We comply with all requirements and legislation.
How do you make sure the auditor knows each set of accounts well enough when AI has processed everything?
AI should give the auditor more time for the material matters in each set of accounts, not less. With less repetitive work, the auditor can focus on risks, deviations and complex matters where professional judgement is crucial.
Is there a limit to how many sets of accounts one auditor handles at Repodo?
The technology should make it possible to increase productivity significantly, but no capacity target takes precedence over quality. The auditor must always have a sufficient basis to take professional responsibility for each individual audit.
Price
How much does an audit cost?
It depends on the size and structure of your company, so we don't publish a price list. After a 20-minute call you get one fixed annual price, agreed before you switch.
How pricing worksCan the price change?
Not because the audit took longer than planned. That risk is ours. It only changes if your company changes significantly, for example a new subsidiary or an acquisition, and we agree any change with you before the work.
How do we pay?
The fixed fee is split into twelve monthly payments. No large invoice at year-end, and no second one in April.
How much cheaper will Repodo be than a traditional audit firm?
The biggest saving is in our clients' own finance teams. Many companies spend substantial resources collecting data and documents for their auditor, and we automate that. We also expect to deliver audits at a significantly lower price point, because we automate most of the manual work. For our core segment, prices can be significantly below traditional alternatives, but that is not the only benefit our clients will see.
Time and process
How much of our time does it take?
About 30 minutes in total: roughly 15 to connect your accounting system and 15 to answer a few questions about the year. Plus two signatures: the engagement letter and the finished annual report.
You say onboarding takes only ten minutes. Isn't that very fast?
The ten minutes are about getting started with Repodo, not about carrying out the audit itself. Onboarding is simple because the company's systems are connected digitally. The audit itself takes the time it needs to be carried out in a professionally sound way.
How long until our annual report is signed?
Days, not weeks, once your books for the year are closed. Most of a traditional audit is waiting. Ours runs all year, so there's little left to do at year-end.
Do we keep our bookkeeper or accountant?
Yes. They keep doing your bookkeeping. We connect to the same system, so they get far fewer questions from us.
Which accounting systems do you work with?
We work with e-conomic, Dinero, Billy by Shine, and LedgerBee today, with more on the way. If you use something else, tell us when you request a proposal.
All integrationsWhat happens if you find a problem?
You hear about it when it happens, not at year-end. Our checks run all year, and your auditor contacts you about anything that needs a decision.
Can you take on any company?
Not yet. We work with small and medium-sized companies, starting in Denmark, with Sweden and the UK next. Some company structures and sectors we can't take on yet, and we'll tell you on the first call if that's you.
Switching
How do we switch from our current auditor?
We handle the formalities with your previous auditor. Your company appoints Repodo, usually at the general meeting, and the change is registered with the Danish Business Authority.
How switching worksWhen is the best time to switch?
Before the audit of your next year-end begins. If your current audit is under way, we'll tell you on the call what's possible.
Data and AI
Do you write to our accounting system?
No. Our access is read-only, always.
Is our data used to train AI?
No. Your data is not used to train or fine-tune AI models, by us or by our AI providers.
How is our data protected?
It's encrypted at rest and in transit, access is restricted to authorised people and protected by multi-factor authentication, and audit documentation is kept for the period the law requires. You can see our security controls live at trust.repodo.com.
Trust and securityAre you SOC 2 certified?
We have engaged an independent auditor for SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 reports, and our controls are monitored continuously. You can follow them at trust.repodo.com.
What do you do about hallucinations and errors from AI?
We never assume that an AI output is correct. There is professional control around the technology, and the final responsibility rests with the auditor.
About Repodo
Who is behind Repodo?
Repodo was founded by Ken Villum Klausen, Peter Andreasen and Joachim Strøjer Hansen, who built the Nordic digital bank Lunar, together with state-authorised auditor Anders Houmann. We're backed by Hedosophia and Seed Capital.
Is Repodo a software company or an audit firm?
Repodo is a group of companies, but as a client you are a client of an audit firm. The other companies build the technology the audit firm runs on. We don't sell AI software to other auditors; we deliver the audit ourselves and have the direct client relationship.
Do you work with companies outside Denmark?
Denmark comes first, with Sweden and the UK next. We already take requests from companies in both, and more of Europe will follow. Send a request wherever your company is, and we'll tell you what we can do for you today.
Can I talk to a person?
Yes. Call +45 70 90 70 88 or write to [email protected].
Repodo and the audit industry
How is Repodo different from established audit firms that already use AI and data analysis?
The question isn't whether you use AI. We built our technology, workflows and client experience around AI from the start. And we don't sell software to the audit industry: we deliver the audit ourselves and have the direct client relationship.
Why don't you just sell software to audit firms?
Because we believe the biggest opportunity is to rethink the whole audit model. New software can improve an existing process; we want to build the process itself differently.
Are you taking on the Big Four directly?
Yes, and the large audit firms in the tier below. We are not building software for established audit firms to buy; we are building an audit firm and competing for clients. Our thesis is that the audit model itself can be built better when the technology is integrated from the start.
What happens when PwC, Deloitte, EY or KPMG copy you?
The industry is already investing in AI, but we don't have to accommodate legacy systems or transform an existing organisation. We built technology, processes and the client experience around AI from the start. Of course we expect competition.
Is this an attack on the traditional auditor?
No. We are challenging how audit work is organised, not the auditor's expertise or value to society. We believe AI can make the auditor's job more interesting by removing much of the routine work.
Will Repodo mean that auditors aren't needed in the long run?
No. We want to remove a large part of the routine work, not the need for an auditor. Auditors should spend more time where experience and judgement make a difference, and less on repetitive work.
What does Repodo mean for jobs in the audit industry?
AI will change the division of labour, and fewer working hours will go into some repetitive processes. Professional judgement, an understanding of risk and the conversation with the client become even more important. And we need to hire skilled auditors ourselves.
What will the audit industry look like in five years?
Much more of the manual work will be automated, for clients and auditors alike. Auditors will focus more on risk, complex judgements and the conversations where experience matters, and clients will spend less time collecting data. The question won't be whether the industry uses AI, but how fundamentally it has changed the way it works.
